UM-GCMH Member, Norman B. Mendoza, won the 2017 STAR Student Development Award (http://www.star-society.org/star-awards/) for the “Best paper on stress, anxiety and coping in theory, practice or research,” written by a graduate student.
His paper entitled “Evidence of the paradoxical effect of social network support: a study among Filipino domestic workers in China” was co-authored with UM-GCMH Director, Brian J. Hall, PhD and others. The paper highlights different effects of social support on the mental health of migrant domestic workers.
Norman will present the research paper and will receive the award in the STAR Conference 2017 in Hong Kong, on the 5th-7th of July.
